The “Operations Centre of the City of Rio” is a unique experiment in the capital of Brazil, designed by IBM. The building serves as the headquarters for the main response agency for railways, subways, traffic and weather programs that predict rainfall and storms. It also has a map with the locations of car accidents, power failures and other problems of the city to make the response efficient and speedy. The citywide circuit system integrates data from some 30 agencies, all under a single roof and is an example of how using technology can help cities tackle the worst effects of urbanization and overpopulation. This company aims to provide software that adds intelligence and speed to assist with the Improvement of Internet of Things.

The main goal of Real Time Innovations is to form a consortium named Open Fog that will allow a connectivity framework for all the companies. Stan Schneider, CEO of Real Time Innovations argues that they are working for making improvements in robotics, factory systems, avionics and hook these together.

The three industry sectors in which they plan to work are medical, transportation and energy sectors. Whenever you go to a hospital there are respirators, incubators, EKG machine, X-rays,etc. They are currently not connected to each other in a way that will make them work efficiently and more intelligently.By making the medical devices connected to each other they plan to bring down the number of death by medical errors which is the third leading causes of death.

The RTI software will also be used by transportation systems to find all the cars within 200 yards of an intersection as a way of enabling autonomous driving. They also plan to make cars that are self operated. Self operated cars will bring down the number of highway accident and deaths.

The third major field is the energy sector. Their goal is to make green energy more accessible. There are many solar panels on homes that produce enough energy that can be exported for other uses.They plan to output that electricity to the power grid in an efficient manner by making the electricity generated by residents more predictable. This is already being tested by companies such as Duke Energy.

It is expected that the market value of the Internet of things will be in trillions of dollars in the future. Most of the projects in this field are at a nascent stage and huge investments are being made in the sector. While there could be security challenges, the CEO Stan Schneider argued that they are doing everything in their power to make their security full-proof. Like the operations Center of Rio De Janerio that has made the city smarter, this software could also make the world of the internet a smarter place.
